Marc Cucurella made waves two seasons ago at Brighton, having moved to the Premier League from Getafe. The Blues then bought him for a reported fee of around £62 million last summer, but he has not had the same impact in London.
Making 33 appearances last season and only clocking two assists, as well as having to deal with injuries, Cucurella is likely to find himself on Chelsea's sale list this summer, as new manager Mauricio Pochettino looks to make cuts to the club's huge squad.
According to 'The Mirror', Eddie Howe's Newcastle are eyeing the full-back, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of a return to the Champions League next season, after a stunning campaign that saw them finish fourth in the Premier League last season.
'Daily Mail' reports that the Magpies' sporting director, Dan Ashworth, was initially responsible for bringing Cucurella to Brighton, and now he may look to see him move again, this time up North.
Although Newcastle's priorities mostly lie in the midfield, the Spaniard could be a good choice for the club's defensive line, and would reportedly cost them somewhere in the region of £30 million - half of what Chelsea paid for him.
Other options for Newcastle included Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney and Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella, though the latter may prove tricky as Inter would probably want more than £50 million for the Italian.
