Newcastle cruise past Arsenal to secure EFL Cup Final berth

Newcastle United secured their spot in the EFL Cup final with a convincing 2-0 win against Arsenal at St. James' Park, sealing a 4-0 aggregate victory in the semi-final. The Magpies, who had already established a 2-0 lead from the first leg at the Emirates Stadium, started brightly and had an early Isak goal disallowed for offside in the 4th minute.

Jacob Murphy broke the deadlock in the 19th minute, pouncing on a rebound after Alexander Isak's shot struck the post. Anthony Gordon doubled Newcastle's advantage in the second half, capitalising on a misplaced pass from Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya to Declan Rice.

The comprehensive victory sees Eddie Howe's side cruise into the final at Wembley, where they await the winners of the other semi-final between Liverpool and Tottenham. Newcastle's dominant performance throughout both legs of the tie showcased their growing stature in English football.

The Magpies will now have the opportunity to end their 55-year trophy drought when they compete in the final, with their last major honour being the 1969 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.
