Newcastle agree 40 million euro deal with Lille for Botman

Sven Botman, Lille's 22 year old Dutch centreback, has been on the agenda of various clubs around Europe. However, one club has now appeared to have won the race for his signatured. This being, Newcastle United.

According to transfer specialist, Fabrizio Romano, the English club have had an offer of 37 million euros plus add-ons, which could see the total deal reach 40 million euros, accepted by Lille. 

Botman still has three years left on his contract at the French club, after recently completing his second season with the team. In total, he has scored three times and made two assists in 79 official matches for Lille.

Although AC Milan were one of the front runners in signing the ex Ajax man, in the end, Newcastle have been the club to present the best offer for him. The Italians are not in a position to fight for his signature any longer.
