Napoli's Buongiorno out for remainder of season with adductor injury

Napoli regained the lead of the Italian top flight with four games until the end of the season, capitalising on Inter's slump against Roma to beat Torino 2-0 on Sunday. Despite the crucial win, Antonio Conte was handed a piece of bad news at the Diego Armando Maradona.
Centre-back Buongiorno was forced off the pitch early against his former side after having gone down with a muscular injury. Medical scans conducted earlier today revealed that the Italian has sustained an injury to the adductor, which will rule him out for the remainder of the term.
"Alessandro Buongiorno underwent medical tests on Tuesday at the Pineta Grande Hospital, which revealed an injury to the adductor longus muscle in his right thigh. The Azzurri defender has already begun his rehabilitation process," reads a statement from the club.
Napoli will be without the 25-year-old at the heart of their defence for their final games against Lecce on Saturday, followed by Genoa, Parma and Cagliari on May 25, as they currently find themselves three points ahead of reigning Serie A champions Inter in the standings.
