Morocco eye record-breaking win to edge closer to FIFA top 10

The Atlas Lions face Benin on Monday, 9 June, in what may officially be a friendly, but carries far greater weight for Walid Regragui's men—both in terms of their competitive present and their place in national football history.
Having already strung together 11 straight wins, Morocco stand just one step away from setting a new all-time record for the national team. Should they prevail on Monday, it would mark their longest ever winning streak.
Their current run has seen them overcome Zambia (2-1), Congo (0-6), Gabon (4-1 and 1-5), Lesotho (0-1 and 7-0), Central African Republic (5-0 and 0-4), Niger (1-2), Tanzania (2-0) and most recently Tunisia (2-0), underlining their growing dominance on the continent.
A twelfth straight win would not only be symbolic—it could also prove crucial in the FIFA rankings. Victory against Benin may see Morocco close in on the top 10, currently rounded off by Germany, who have lost their last two UEFA Nations League outings.
Currently ranked 12th, Morocco could find themselves ideally placed to break into that elite group during the next international window in September, should they maintain their impressive form.
