More than 20 injured in incidents following Hamburg's promotion

Celebrations to mark the return of historic Hamburg SV to the Bundesliga after seven years in the second tier left more than 20 people injured, at least one of whom had to be taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

This was reported by the Hamburg fire brigade, which said 24 other people also had to be treated in hospitals with injuries of varying severity.

Minutes before the match in which Hamburg beat Ulm 6-1 to seal promotion, some fans started jumping from the stands onto the pitch.

Police also had to prevent the fans from entering the changing rooms.
