Marseille slap £82 million price tag on Greenwood

Following a stellar year at Getafe, Olympique Marseille shelled out €26 million for Mason Greenwood in the summer of 2024. In his debut season with the French outfit, he bagged 22 goals and provided five assists in 36 appearances.
Having quickly become the poster boy for the project, the French side are in no mood to let him go easily, despite growing interest from Saudi Arabia.
According to British journalist Ben Jacobs of talkSPORT, Al-Nassr are looking to snap up the English forward just days after securing the signing of Joao Felix.
With Jhon Duran's departure to Fenerbahce, the Saudi side are forced to bring in more players to bolster their attacking options, and Mason Greenwood is now their priority in the market. However, they face an uphill battle.
Marseille will not even entertain offers from Al-Nassr unless they stump up at least €97 million for the player – a figure that would triple their initial investment. Indeed, the report stresses that even then, there's no guarantee they would accept the offer from Cristiano Ronaldo's team.
Marseille are aware that a sale would only leave them with 50% of the transfer fee, as they still share the rights with Manchester United.
This is why they have attempted to inflate the financial package currently on the table from Al-Nassr, who will be the next to make a move by either increasing their offer or withdrawing from the race.
