Manchester United restrict shirt printing for legends like Ronaldo

Beyond new signings or personalised names, a common practice when buying football shirts is to have the names of past stars, who have etched their place in a team's history, printed.
At a club like Manchester United, the list is extensive. However, commercial rights agreements with many former players often prevent fans from having their names printed on the kit.
A Red Devils supporter brought this to light on X. "I took my son to buy his new shirt the other day. I had no idea the club couldn't print Cantona, Beckham, or Cristiano Ronaldo on them," SmnLLyd5 posted. He also attached a photo from a Manchester United store confirming this.
The post clarified that the restriction is a matter of rights. Players with significant commercial appeal often retain these rights after leaving the club. In Cristiano Ronaldo's case, he is currently at Al Nassr.
Manchester United fans have voiced their surprise on social media, especially given that these are three of the club's most iconic players.
