Man Utd star Dalot leaves Portugal squad for 'personal reasons'

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has been called up by Roberto Martinez for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Iceland. The 24-year-old is proving a key player for Martinez and the Red Devils as he has 11 Premier League, four Champions League and two EFL Cup appearances to his name this season.

However, it seems that the Portuguese player will not take part in either of these two matches as he has withdrawn from the team's last training session. The reason for his apparent withdrawal from the Portugal squad is unknown, with the player citing 'personal reasons'.

Dalot's replacement is Joao Mario from Porto according to the Portuguese press release."Joao Mario will make his debut in a National Team call-up after being called up this afternoon to replace Diogo Dalot," read the statement.

"The Manchester United defender was released from the national team's work for personal reasons and after communication with the National Coach, Roberto Martinez. Joao Mario, FC Porto player, has 42 caps for national teams, including 15 at under-21 level," concluded the Portugal's statement.
