Man Utd's Mainoo targeted by Chelsea amid Lavia worries

Chelsea are stepping up their interest in 19-year-old Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo as the Blues' concerns over Romeo Lavia's fitness problems grow. 

Lavia, who joined Chelsea for £58m in August 2023, has struggled with injuries since his arrival, making just 12 appearances this season, with ten of those in the Premier League.

The Stamford Bridge team has been looking at other options due to the Belgian international's ongoing fitness issues, and Mainoo has emerged as a top target.

Several major clubs have expressed interest in the England international, who has started 15 Premier League games for Manchester United this season. 

United are reported to value Mainoo at around £75m, but Chelsea's interest could be bolstered by the player's wage demands, which reportedly match those of Cole Palmer. 

Although Mainoo would prefer a move to Spain or Italy, Chelsea believe a deal could be struck if he meets their wage expectations.
