Man Utd prepare £26m bid for Palmeiras midfielder Richard Rios

Manchester United are preparing a £26m bid for Colombian midfielder Richard Rios, currently at Palmeiras. The Red Devils' proposal exceeds the one submitted by Roma and is close to the financial demands of the Brazilian club, who would only consider the player's departure for a figure in the region of $30m.
Rios, 25, has been one of Palmeiras' revelations this season and his performances at the recent Club World Cup caught the eye of scouts and officials at Old Trafford. The midfielder has made 35 appearances in 2025, scoring four goals and dishing out four assists, with standout performances in the Copa Libertadores and the World Cup tournament.
United are looking to strengthen their midfield after the doubts generated by the performance of Casemiro, and consider Rios as an alternative for the present and future. According to Italian media, Roma also maintain their interest in the Colombian, although their latest offer was lower than the one the English club are planning to make.
Palmeiras have made it clear that they will not accept a figure lower than 30 million dollars, although Rios' market value is seen as an opportunity for the European giants. Rios is noted for his physical strength, technical ability and versatility, qualities that have convinced United's coaching staff to speed up negotiations.
