Man United slammed for 'unprofessional' defeat in Basel

Needing only a draw to guarantee top spot in Group A, the Red Devils were shocked in the final minutes in Basel, leaving former captain Rio Ferdinand scathing of their performance.

"No one likes losing games, and the manner in which they lost will hurt as well," said Ferdinand, with the defeat forcing United to get another point against CSKA Moscow in the final fixture.

"They are going to qualify, but when you have had a first half like that, as convincing in terms of the number of chances they should have dispatched, to come out in the second half and allow your emotions to take over and become so open," the former defender continued.

"It was like basketball, an end to end game, it was not professional on Manchester United’s part at all." Rio concluded.
