Man City privately concerned about Foden's mental fatigue and on-pitch struggles

Less than a year after he led Manchester City to their fourth consecutive Premier League title and won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award, Phil Foden seems to have gone off track. The 24-year-old has failed to replicate the heights of last season, scoring just 10 goals and providing 5 assists in 38 appearances in the 2024/25 campaign.
But it has now been revealed that Foden has been dealing with on-and-off-pitch struggles hampering his performances throughout this season. According to 'Mail Online' journalist Jack Gaughan, The Stockport-born Man City academy graduate is believed to have suffered from physical issues that have prevented him from hitting his peak.
Furthermore, he has reportedly been keeping up with social media to see what has been said about him, causing him to be mentally fatigued from the constant online criticism. It is understood that his teammates are known to have privately worried about the Englishman, while Foden's representatives have refused to comment on the matter.
Foden is not the only City star to experience this sudden drop in form. Other key figures in the dressing room, like Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, have also failed to deliver this term, and this has reflected on the team's overall results. Pep Guardiola's side sit 5th in the Premier League and only have the FA Cup to play for after facing elimination from both the Champions League and Carabao Cup.
