Man City end Mahrez interest

Manchester City had been looking to bolster their attacking options after Leroy Sane's injury at the weekend, but Riyad Mahrez will not be the man to strengthen their title bid.
A proposed Riyad Mahrez move to Man City is off after Leicester wanted a cash-plus-player package worth £95m. As with Alexis Sanchez, the club were not prepared to pay what they thought was over the market value.
The Citizens made one final offer for the coveted 26-year-old, offering a deal worth £65million which included a player. However, after discussing terms, Man City decided to walk away from Riyad Mahrez. The fee was ultimately a sticking point.
Leicester were after a combined package of around £95m - cash plus a player. City were very interested in bringing in Mahrez but not at any price, and he will not be moving to the Etihad in this window.
