Madrid star Mbappe admitted to hospital with gastroenteritis

It's another setback for Los Blancos as the Frenchman had already missed their Club World Cup opener against Al Hilal with a cold. Now, the club have reported that the forward has been admitted to hospital after developing acute gastroenteritis.
"Our player Kylian Mbappe is suffering from an acute case of gastroenteritis and has been hospitalised to undergo various tests and receive appropriate treatment," read the statement issued on Thursday afternoon.
The star forward will now be under medical supervision as he begins his recovery. There had already been doubts surrounding his condition on the eve of the Club World Cup match against Al Hilal.
The forward missed the final training session due to a fever, which ultimately ruled him out of both the starting line-up and the bench.
Speaking to DAZN just minutes before Madrid's tournament opener, Fede Valverde shed some light on his teammate's situation: "He had a cold. I don't think he even left his room, but we're hoping he recovers soon."
However, it appears that his cold has worsened, as confirmed by his hospitalisation. Real Madrid have taken precautions, seeing no signs of improvement.
Consequently, the Frenchman is expected miss the second group stage match against Pachuca, and it remains to be seen whether he will be fit for the group stage finale against Salzburg.
