Madrid star admits refereeing error against Bayern

Controversy marked the outcome of the Champions League match between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich with Matthijs de Ligt's disallowed goal. Toni Kroos acknowledged Szymon Marciniak's refereeing error on his brother Felix's podcast 'Einfach mal Luppen'.

"It was a bad decision. You had to let the play finish. I think the mistake is mainly the linesman's mistake. If he raises the flag, the referee assumes that his linesman sees it exactly like that and is confident that there was probably a 3-metre offside," he explained.

Moreover, Toni Kroos empathised with the unrest at Bayern Munich after what happened, which deprived them of a place in the Champions League final. "The anger is justified because we had to deal with the situation until the end," he said.

"I don't know if there was a collective stoppage because you could hear the whistle well before De Ligt's shot. It was noticeable that the tension of the play diminished among all those who wanted to defend the play," he concluded.
