Lyon took a two-goal advantage

It looked as if the first goal would be heading Manchester City's way, but instead, a lapse in defensive judgement allowed the French outfit to score. 

Fekir found himself out wide and in space, before whipping an excellent cross into the centre of the area with his left foot. 

Fabian Delph struggled to adjust his body in time to deal with the ball, leaving Cornet with a golden chance to score. 

The Frenchman finished well, driving his half-volley into the far corner past Ederson.

With 43 minutes on the clock, Lyon doubled their advantage. Fekir, chased by Liverpool throughout the summer, proved his worth on the big stage. 

The 25-year-old picked the ball up around 30 yards from goal, before taking one touch to set himself, and sending an absolute thunderbolt into the far bottom corner, giving Ederson no chance.
