Lukaku criticises Belgian federation for handling of Courtois-Tedesco case

Striker Romelu Lukaku has openly criticised the Belgian Football Association‘s handling of the clash between Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibault Courtois and national team coach Domenico Tedesco.

"The Belgian Federation should have handled this matter better," the Belgium's top scorer said on the “Koolcast” podcast of “Friends of Sports”.

The striker added that the Belgian federation should have ‘said at the first press conference: “No questions about Thibaut, otherwise the journalist in question is no longer welcome”. Like Sir Alex Ferguson did, he also controlled everything at Manchester United. The people at the Federation could have reduced the pressure on the coach and Thibaut.

The 32-year-old has resigned from playing for the Red Devils as long as coach Tedesco, with whom he has had a public dispute since June 2023, felt slighted by the coach and walked out of a national team training camp when he was not given the captain's armband in the absence of Kevin de Bruyne.
