Luis Diaz a pipe dream for Barcelona, Bayern prepare fresh bid

After Nico Williams renewed his contract with Athletic Club — ending hopes of a move to Barcelona — the Catalan side have shifted their focus to other attacking reinforcements for the 2025–26 season. The main targets now are Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford.
Of the two, Rashford appears the more attainable option. The English forward is open to a move, and Manchester United are reportedly willing to let him go. However, Barcelona's sporting director Deco is particularly fond of Diaz, placing the Colombian at the top of his personal shortlist.
Despite Deco's admiration, bringing Díaz to Camp Nou currently seems like a distant dream. Liverpool are demanding a high fee, and Bayern Munich have entered the race with far greater financial flexibility than Barcelona — and they’re prepared to prove it.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern had a bid of over €67 million rejected by Liverpool just days ago, but the German giants are already preparing a new offer exceeding €70 million.
Barcelona, by contrast, are unwilling to engage in a bidding war. As reported by 'Mundo Deportivo', the club has set a firm limit of €60 million for Díaz and is counting on the appeal of Barça’s project — and the player’s interest in joining — to sway Liverpool.
That said, the strategy may not be enough. While Díaz is said to favour a move to Barcelona, he is not opposed to the idea of playing for Bayern. Unless there’s a significant shift, the Catalan club are expected to redirect their efforts toward other options — with Rashford now emerging as the frontrunner.
