‘Why not?’ Yoro's bold decision on his first professional penalty

Leny Yoro, 19, was an unexpected hero who stepped up to take his first-ever professional penalty during Manchester United's thrilling FA Cup victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

After a demanding 120 minutes with ten men, the young defender slotted home his spot-kick, contributing to United's victory in the shootout. His calm demeanour belied his inexperience. 

When manager Ruben Amorim asked Yoro to take the penalty, the Frenchman offered a straightforward "why not?" response. 

Even though Yoro had never taken a penalty in a professional game before, he gained confidence from the FA Cup practice sessions. 

Considering the high stakes of the game and United's numerical disadvantage after Diogo Dalot was dismissed, Yoro's poise under duress was especially remarkable. 

Since joining United from Lille for £52.2 million, the young defender has developed into a vital member of the backline, and his heroics on the penalty add another chapter to his quickly evolving career.
