The Premier League champions are in crisis. They have been knocked out of the Carabao and FA Cups and they are now seven points off the lead in the league. What is more, they are currently outside the top four (but they have a game in hand). Their two biggest problems have been the constant injuries and a lack of goals.
It sounds strange, but the stat is clear. Klopp's side are, together with Huesca, the only clubs in the top five leagues yet to score in the league in 2021. They lost 1-0 against Southampton, drew 0-0 at home to Man Utd and were then beaten 0-1 by Burnley. Just one point from three games. They scored twice in the FA Cup tie with United, but they were beaten 3-2.
That is not all though. The Reds have gone four consecutive games without scoring in the Premier League. The last goal was scored by Sadio Mane against West Brom in the 12th minute. Since then, they have not scored in 438 minutes. Liverpool are actually highest scorers in the league with United (37) and Klopp's side have a game in hand. That is proof of how much more they have struggled in the last few months. In fact, these four matches without a goal are the only ones they have failed to score in all season.
It is funny because they had thumped Crystal Palace 0-7 before that. Since then, they have dropped 12 points and Liverpool are in a difficult position in the league.
The match against Tottenham will not precisely be a easy game to try and end the drought. Since coronavirus suspended football, their form has been badly hit. They have won 20 matches, drawn 12 and lost 7.
