Liverpool join Newcastle in race for Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike

Eintracht Frankfurt enjoyed a great 2024/25 campaign that saw them finish third in the Bundesliga, qualifying them for the next edition of the Champions League.
Hugo Ekitike was one of the stars of the German side, leading his team with 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 official appearances, 43 of which were starts.
The French striker's fine campaign put him on the radar of several European clubs for the summer transfer window, Newcastle being one of them.
However, the Magpies have had no further contact with Frankfurt after their first formal bid for the 23-year-old was rejected on Monday, something Liverpool have taken advantage of.
The Reds, who are also trying to land Newcastle striker Isak in a ground-breaking move, have entered the race for the former Paris Saint-Germain player.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arne Slot's side are making progress both in club-to-club talks and with the player and his entourage.
