Lewandowski almost back but uncertain if he will start

Poland coach Michal Probierz said he hopes to have Robert Lewandowski in the starting line-up against Austria on Friday, but said final medical reports on the striker's muscle injury and a final training session are still needed before a final decision can be made.

"The good news is that the medical team worked until 2 am and managed to get everyone into training, including Lewandowski," he told a news conference on Thursday. "The last training session is missing, the last medical reports are missing. Hopefully they will be positive so we can have Robert," he added.

At another point, he hinted that if he felt the striker was not ready to play the full 90 minutes, he might start him on the bench. "Having one of the best players in the world as a substitute can be a weapon," he said.

On Friday's clash, Probierz said he expected an "aggressive" game and described it as a key match: "Austria showed great intensity against France. It will be an aggressive game. We can adapt to that, but we also want to play football. We represent 40 million people and we want to achieve something for them.
