Lescott joined Aston Villa from West Brom just over a year ago but endured a torrid time at Villa, suffering a humiliating relegation to the Championship.
The former Manchester City star has not featured in any of Aston Villa's games this season and has been deemed surplus to requirements at Villa Park.
The defender almost joined Rangers this summer but could not agree personal terms with the Scottish side.
