AS Roma are close to reaching an agreement with player Leandro Paredes to extend the midfielder's contract, negotiations are in the final stages.
The 30-year-old Argentine's current contract expires in June and he has been a key figure in Claudio Ranieri's side this season, making 20 appearances in all competitions.
Paredes' future has been the subject of speculation in recent months, with clubs such as Boca Juniors expressing an interest in bringing the World Cup winner back to Argentina.
However, Roma have prioritised extending Paredes' contract, recognising his importance in the team's midfield.
The move comes after Paredes triggered an automatic renewal clause after playing in more than 50% of Roma's games this season.
Although details have yet to be finalised it is understood that both parties are optimistic that a beneficial deal can be reached.
