“No need to be selfish” - Simeone hits out at Atletico's Riquelme

Atletico Madrid won 0-1 at Son Moix, in a match in which they only had two shots on target and in which they ended up suffering. After the match, Simeone recalled the missed chance by Rodrigo Riquelme, who could have set up Angel Correa to score the goal.

“You don't have to be selfish, you have to be a teammate. He obviously decided to shoot, but it wasn't the right thing to do. You had to play the ball to your teammate to score it. Fortunately, we didn't have to pay for his decision,” the 'Colchoneros' coach told ‘DAZN’.

In a press conference, Diego Pablo Simeone reaffirmed the importance of Julian in the team and described him as a player with “personality, hierarchy, humility and goal”.

“Now I don't follow Julian's figures but I love him, he is a player that does us good now and in all the years he is here, a player with personality, hierarchy, humility and goal. Let's hope he continues in this line because he gives us what we expected,” said Cholo.

“Oblak's ability in the race to see Giuliano and Julian's belief in his teammate, the teammate won it back and was not selfish in the finish, which allowed us to put a difficult and tough match on track,” he said about the winning goal.

“I don't dwell on the result, but on winning or losing, although in the last few games the team had an important idea of collective work, today we repeated the effort of the last few days and we achieved our job, to give joy to the Atletico Madrid fans”, he concluded.
