“I see myself at least one more year at this level”

Robert Lewandowski has been Barcelona's top scorer this season. After a year in which he had slightly lowered his level, the Pole has again increased his performances. Now, after a great individual and collective year, he is looking to the future.
“I feel very good physically and mentally. With the injury and after that I felt a little bit worse than before, but that's normal. From the beginning of 2025 until the end of the season we were playing very well, at a very high level, and we won a lot of games. And with my age I am also very happy, I am physically very well prepared for the season. I can play at least one more year at this level,” he told ‘Mundo Deportivo’.
Lewandowski's contract ends in 2026 and a renewal has not yet been undertaken: “I think I have enough time to decide what I want to do after next season. I can play at the same level as last season, but this is football. There is also something else outside football that in the end can change what I have in my head. That's why I think it's too early to think about these things now. With this team I have enjoyed a lot and I am very proud to be able to play in it”.
The striker is aware that Barcelona can make a signing in his position this year so that he is already integrated when he leaves. However, he does not see easily who could be that '9' of reference: “I have not seen many players so far who play more than two or three years at full strength and have scored more than 40 goals. At the moment it's not easy to look for a player who can do that. In football, finding a goal-scoring striker now is not easy.”
“I have a lot of experience in my life. I have seen a lot of things in football and I think I don't have to pay to be ten years younger. I'm proud of everything I've done in my life. You can't compare football now with football ten years ago. There is a big difference, but which is better? It's hard to say,” concluded the Barcelona striker.
