“For the sake of football, let it never happen again” - Scaloni hits out at streamer debut

Lionel Scaloni gave his usual press conference this afternoon at the Lionel Messi Stadium in Ezeiza prior to Thursday's match against Paraguay for the 11th round of the South American qualifiers and, although he did not confirm the starting eleven, he said that it will be “very similar” to the one that comes from the 6-0 win over Bolivia in the previous match.

The coach also addressed to the controversial debut of Twitch streamer Spreen in last Monday's match between Deportivo Riestra and Velez Sarsfield in the Argentine tournament: “We have to be as honest as possible. I imagine that everyone thinks the same as I do. I have kept my debut in the first tier as one of the best moments of my life and that, everyone said the same thing, what it costs to get there.

"Having said that, I think the Ethics Committee is going to work on this, I imagine it will be exemplary and, please, let it not happen again. For the sake of football, those of us who love this sport, without being disrespectful to anyone, I think it should not happen again, I think it has to stay there, I hope it will be that way from the place I am in.

Hours after the streamer made his debut against Velez, Deportivo Riestra issued a statement apologising if anyone had been offended.
