Daley Blind will be out of the match against Girona at San Mames on Sunday. Athletic Club and the Catalan side face each other on matchday 25 of La Liga in a key duel in the fight for a Champions League spot. Michel will not be able to count on the Dutchman, as was the case at the Santiago Bernabeu in another important game.

Girona have announced that their first-choice defender Daley Blind will not be available for their La Liga meeting against Athletic Club at San Mames on Monday. It is a key game in the fight for Champions League places.

Michel will be without an important part of his defence. The same thing happened to him at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid in another decisive match for the top of La Liga.

It will be the first game Blind has missed through injury this season, as he was suspended against Madrid. This shows his undisputed role in Michel's Girona side. He has scored three goals in Girona colours this season.

With the Dutchman out, the Spanish coach is likely to field the same centre-back pairing that played against Ancelotti's men last time out, which consisted of Eric Garcia and Juanpe.
