Lamine Yamal sets sights on Champions League and World Cup glory at 18

Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, who turned 18 on Sunday, is aiming to replicate last season's successes, where he won the domestic treble with the Blaugrana (La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup), and also lift the Champions League and World Cup.
"At 18, I want everything I had at 16 and 17, plus the titles I'm missing: the Champions League and the World Cup," the player said in a video released by the Catalan club on social media, statements taken from a documentary series.
Despite his youth, Lamine Yamal is only focused on the present: "My mentality tells me that I have to go out and win, I don't think about having many years ahead of me, I want to win now, and I will give everything to achieve it. I want to tell the Cules that we will fight, and for sure, the Champions League will return home. And I'm going for the World Cup too."
The Rocafonda native was one of the main figures on Sunday as the Barcelona squad returned to work under Hansi Flick, who summoned his players to the Joan Gamper training complex at nine in the morning for the usual medical and physical tests.
The Spanish international attended the session without any issues, despite spending Saturday celebrating his birthday. First, with a family lunch in the coastal town of Garraf (Barcelona), and later at a party in a rural house in the area with friends, teammates and artists, among other personalities.
Furthermore, Lamine Yamal will participate in the first training session of the new season on Monday afternoon with the rest of the team at the Joan Gamper training complex, where the squad will continue their preparations until the start of the tour of Japan and South Korea on 24 July.
Barcelona will play their first summer friendly on 27 July against Vissel Kobe, a match in which the forward could wear the number 10 shirt for the first time, inheriting it from Ansu Fati, who is on loan at Monaco. The Catalans plan to officially announce the change in the coming week.
After winning La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey with Barcelona last season, and the European Championship the previous summer, Lamine Yamal is heading into a new season in which he will debut a new contract - recently renewed until 2031 - and will try to win the two major titles that he is missing, the Champions League and the World Cup.
