La Liga to appeal CSD's ruling on Olmo and Pau Victor's registrations

La Liga announced that it will immediately appeal the resolution of the Superior Sports Council (CSD) in favour of Barcelona and their players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, which maintains the registration of both, understanding that it is not in accordance with the law.
According to La Liga, “the denial of the previous visa for the renewal of licenses or for their new registration is an act that results from the automatic application of the rules for the registration of players” and the agreements of the Monitoring Committee of the RFEF-LALIGA Agreement on January 4th, 2025 “were limited to confirming the legal impossibility of processing new licenses, thus ratifying the literal application of the federative regulations”, in the case of both players.
"The licenses of the two players expired automatically on December 31st, 2024, at the end of the duration of the same, agreed between the players and the club. Therefore, in no case is a federative act of cancellation of the same required," it said in a statement.
La Liga also assured that "the competence of the CSD in matters of licenses is limited to the review of acts of issuance or refusal of the same, but not to their cancellation or extension (art. 116.3.a and 117 LD) as in the present case".
The body presided over by Jose Manuel Rodriguez Uribes today definitively upheld Barcelona's appeal, considering that the RFEF and La Liga commission is not competent to decide on the prior visa and the license requested by Barca, and has therefore deemed its agreement null and void, although it has not entered into an assessment of the economic control exercised by La Liga.
