La Liga 2025/26 fixtures revealed: Clasicos, derbies and key matchdays

After a longer wait than last year, the 20 top-flight teams now have their schedules. The Spanish Federation has drawn the dates not only for the top tier of Spanish football, but also for all the competitions it oversees, in the picturesque village of San Juan de la Nava, Avila.
The league season will begin for the top flight on Friday, August 15th and will run until Sunday, May 24th, 2026, when the final matchday will take place, potentially deciding the champions and the relegated teams.
As usual, the championship will be affected by international breaks, with national teams competing in World Cup qualifiers, with the tournament taking place at the end of the campaign, between June 11th and July 19th, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Copa del Rey final will be played on April 25th, and the Spanish Super Cup between Wednesday, January 7th, and Sunday, January 11th.

Barcelona and Real Madrid will once again battle for La Liga, and the matches between them promise to be high-octane affairs. The first of these clashes will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on matchday 10, October 26th.
The return fixture will be even more crucial and could even decide the title, as has been the case in recent seasons. This will be on matchday 35, at Camp Nou on May 10th.
A derby is always special, and even more so in the capital of Andalusia. Sevilla and Real Betis will once again experience a year of Seville clashes, putting the city in the global spotlight.
The first leg will be at the Pizjuan on November 30th, on matchday 14, while the return leg will be at La Cartuja, the Verdiblancos home this year, on matchday 26, March 1st.
Another match to watch is the Basque derby between Athletic Club and Real Sociedad, perhaps the derby with the friendliest fans, judging by recent years. The first leg will be at Anoeta on matchday 11, November 2nd, while the return leg will be at San Mames on February 1st, on matchday 22.
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, will set the Spanish capital ablaze in what will be Xabi Alonso's first derbies in charge of Los Blancos.
The first leg of the Madrid derby will be at the Metropolitano on matchday 7, September 28th, while the return leg will be at the Santiago Bernabeu on March 22nd, on matchday 29.
Finally, another match marked in red is the one between Espanyol and Barcelona, even more so after the signing of Joan Garcia by the Blaugranas. The goalkeeper will return to the RCDE Stadium on matchday 18, January 4th, to start the year, while the return leg will be at Camp Nou on April 12th, on matchday 31.
