Kane strikes as Spurs cement Europa League finish

England captain Kane fired Spurs ahead on the stroke of half-time before Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg doubled their lead in the 62nd minute. Victory left Spurs in sixth place, five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, with a maximum of six points available to them from their final two league games.
Kane looked dangerous from the off, striking Patricio's post within five minutes with a magnificent effort from the edge of the box. Spurs came close again just before the break, with Wolves defender Connor Coady clearing off the line twice despite Wolves' protests for a foul on Patricio.
It was right on the stroke of half time that Spurs eventually got a deserved lead through their talisman. Kane latched onto Hojberg's through ball behind centre backs Conor Coady and Romain Saiss. The Spurs star side-stepped Coady's challenge and rounded goalkeeper Rui Patricio, before curling the ball into the corner of the net.
Despite a few chances for the away side, Spurs started the second half as they had finished the first. Kane was denied barely ten minutes in, Patricio tipping his strike onto the post brillianty. The rebound was followed up by Dele Alli who had anticipate well, but his shot too struck the post, this time without any vital interception from the goalkeeper.
Just eight minutes later, however, Spurs put the game to bed thanks to a Hojberg strike. The Dane made it 2-0 just after the hour when he followed up Gareth Bale's shot which had been parried by Patricio, turning the ball home without suffering the same misfortune that Alli had had minutes earlier. Wolves briefly threatened to pull one back but Spurs were comfortable overall, holding on to all three points and climbing up to sixth in the league following West Ham's slip up at Brighton.
Deposed English champions Liverpool, currently fifth, will move to within a point of Chelsea if they win away to already-relegated West Bromwich Albion later this Sunday. Eighth-placed Everton, Liverpool's local rivals, are at home to bottom of the table Sheffield United in the day's concluding Premier League match.
