Kane and Hojbjerg gift Spurs the three points

Both teams started the encounter off strongly, with Everton having the best of the first half chances. Despite Spurs dominating the possession, Everton's Gray saw himelf through in on goal, but was unable to force Lloris in to a save, instead blazing it well over. A simliarly disappointing missed opportunity for Everton came around when an almost identical chance was squandered from the opposite side of the box.
Spurs did offer a much stronger first half on the whole, who could not manage to find a way past Pickford in the visitors' goal. Both teams went in for half time disappointed to not have found the net. After only 15 minutes into the second half came the opportunity Spurs had been after. A Pickford spillage attracted Kane to pounce on the loose ball, which then forced the English keeper to reach out, tearing his fellow national down. The resulting penalty was comfortably put away by Kane, who continued his impressive spot-kick record.
After the Toffees offered nothing going forward, Spurs continued pressing. The second came after a fantastic move right from the centre of the pitch which was cleverly worked into the box where Hojbjerg was happily waiting. After taking his time with the shot, the Danish defender cooly curled the ball into the goal, which was aided by a minor Everton deflection. Everton then turned to Rondon for more attacking threat but the all-new strike partnership with Calvert-Lewin did not prove fruitful.
Tottenham remain in 3rd place after an impressive afternoon, while Everton sink to 14th. Next up for Conte's men is a tricky trip to Man United, while Teesside awaits for Everton.
