Juventus face standoff as Vlahovic rejects pay cut and transfer

Vlahovic arrived in January 2022 as Juventus' new franchise player, but his status is now a thing of the past. Following their exit from the Club World Cup, La Gazzetta dello Sport revealed on Sunday that the Vecchia Signora are seeking to sell him — without success.
Not due to a lack of offers, but because the 25-year-old Serbian has taken a stand. His contract runs until June 2026, and Juventus have proposed a reduced renewal, which he rejects outright.
When he joined, Vlahovic cost €70 million and earned €7.5 million. This season, his wages were set to rise to €12 million under the direction of Maurizio Arrivabene. Yet the numbers have failed to impress: 58 goals in 145 appearances, never reaching twenty goals in any of his three and a half seasons.
Faced with the impossibility of reaching a salary agreement, Juventus sought to sell him this summer, even at a reduced fee. Fenerbahce made a bid, and Jose Mourinho is keen for him to join in Turkey — but Vlahovic is unconvinced by the prospect.
According to the same source, the player has told those close to him that he has no intention of moving, no matter the cost. Relations with Juventus are tense, and the club are considering using the Chiesa method: excluding him from the squad and training sessions.
A final scenario that would symbolise a total breakdown with the man once hailed as Juve's new talisman. Meanwhile, Juventus are attempting to negotiate for Jonathan David, but the deal is at risk.
Should Vlahovic remain, he would have to choose, as alongside Lille's forward, who would arrive on a free transfer, Randal Kolo Muani is also at the club for another year on loan. The Vecchia Signora want to keep Muani and sign his compatriot.
