Jordi Alba and Messi looking to make Inter Miami history

Inter Miami is a young franchise. It began competing in February 2020, when it played a couple of friendly matches before joining MLS. David Beckham, in a matter of four seasons, has managed to assemble a team full of quality with an attractive investment in veteran and proven talent. Leo Messi is the flagship of the project, but Sergio Busquets, Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba have also made the team in pink popular.

The full-back has renewed the symbiosis that characterised his partnerships with the Argentine when they shared a dressing room at Barcelona. He has 17 assists since his arrival in the United States, which puts him on a par with the No 10 in this record and only Robert Taylor, who accumulates 108 games in the squad, surpasses them. Moreover, he does so with a distance of just one more assist. 

Suarez, with 12 assists, has not reached the figures of his friends, an understandable aspect considering his profile, more given to the direct scoring of goals. The fact is that this stat, in which the winger and the striker are tied, will soon become an all-time record. With the Fort Lauderdale outfit having been in existence for almost five seasons, a short history, there are no other players who have driven as many celebrations as the two former ‘Cules’ who are threatening Taylor.

It is the only shot in which any of Inter Miami's star signings have been as good as Leo Messi, who is dominating in terms of goals and attacking contribution. Jordi Alba, with 15 assists this season, is setting the most remarkable records of his professional career. If you add to this bag his performance in the previous season, the total balance is 6 and 17. This figure was especially evident against the New England Revolution, who suffered two of his deliveries that ended up with the ball in the back of the net.
