"It's a source of pride, a dream" - Gavi on wearing Barca's captain armband

Many players who start training in a team's youth academy have the dream of one day being able to play for the first team, something that few achieve. In fact, there are some who even manage to wear the captain's armband having trained in the youth team. 

Barcelona midfielder Gavi is one of those players who can boast of having worn the captain's armband for his childhood team. The Spanish midfielder was given the captain armband against Osasuna by Pedri, who was replaced in the 84th minute by Pau Victor.

Gavi said he had fulfilled a dream and thanked his teammate for the gesture of giving it to him. “For me, it's a source of pride, a dream. In the end, I've been a Barcelona fan since I was a child, and I've always been here. I'm very happy to wear the captain's armband, and I also thank Pedri,” he said.

In addition, many fans on social media highlighted this moment of the match as reminiscent of Barca's iconic 2015 moment between Xavi Hernandez and Iniesta, when the Catalan handed the captain's armband to the Albacete native.
