Isco took a second from his busy footballing schedule to save a bird during Spain's World Cup Group B clash with Iran on Wednesday night.

Jordi Alba and Isco noticed the baby bird on the pitch just before the game was due to get underway, with the Real Madrid man quickly springing into action.

The bird resisted initially, before Isco eventually managed to grab hold of it and move it to a safer location.

Isco was always likely to be one of Spain's key players on the night, but it was his action before kick-off that lit up social media, with some calling for the former Malaga star to be named Man of the Match
