Iniesta bids Spain farewell: 'It's the end of a marvelous era'

The veteran made his Spain debut against Russia and as it turns out his final appearance for 'La Roja' was against the same side.
Iniesta's decision didn't come as much of a surprise in the end, with many having been expecting the news upon Spain's elimination from the tournament, but the Barcelona legend confirmed his international retirement following the game.
"It was my last game. It's the end of a marvellous era on a personal level. It doesn't change anything, it's a very difficult moment and one that we've experienced in the past. It wasn't possible to made that next step. It's a very difficult moment because we didn't want to go out of the World Cup," he explained.
"Today we're screwed, it hasn't been the best goodbye nor the one you would dream of. We have good players and what we have to do is find the path to success once again, although that's more difficult than it seems. In football, the fault is with the players and we are all responsible," he concluded.
