In-form Guirassy scores his 14th Bundesliga goal of the season

Bundesliga is cool. This year, there have been a number of circumstances that allow fans to get closer than just watching another chapter in the rivalry between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. Union Berlin, with Leonardo Bonucci in their ranks, are excelling in the Champions League, Xabi Alonso is dominating a Bayer Leverkusen side in contention for the title, and Stuttgart have found a leading goalscorer in their dressing room.

Sehrou Guirassy, who was on target again in this weekend's match against the capital. It was his 15th goal in just nine matches. To give the reader an idea of the scale of these figures, the striker has already beaten the opposing goalkeeper more times than in the whole of last season, and having played 19 fewer games so far. In fact, this is already the best record of his entire career.

In his most recent goal, he was unmarked to perfection in the penalty area to head Rouault's cross into the back of the net.

To add to the striker's crowning achievement, the goal also served to put Stuttgart further in the hunt for the Bundesliga lead. By half-time of Saturday's first round of German games, Stuttgart had taken over at the top of the table from Bayer Leverkusen, who drew away to Wolfsburg.
