"I was disappointed that Jhon Duran moved to Saudi Arabia"

Saudi Arabia has been steadily attracting top talent, and one of the latest to make the move is Jhon Duran. The striker opted for the Saudi Pro League after an impressive first half of the season with Aston Villa.

Naturally, his departure hasn't gone down well with everyone. Garry Thompson, who played for the Birmingham club in the past, admitted he was disappointed when Duran's move to Al Nassr was made official.

"I was disappointed when he went to Saudi Arabia. Duran was really starting to make an impact at Aston Villa. He didn't get many chances off the bench, but he showed plenty of promise," Thompson told Sports Boom.

The former player also questioned the timing of the player's decision: "I'm disappointed because, at his age, it seems a bit early to go chasing Saudi money. If Jhon Duran becomes even half the player people expect him to be, that money will always be there for him."

"It's a bit sad that he's gone straight for the money. But we can't judge him. We don't know his background. This is about securing generational wealth—taking care of his children's children and all that. So we understand why he made the move," he concluded.
