"I'll have to tell my students all about my goal"

Auckland City produced one of the great underdog stories at this Club World Cup. With a semi-professional squad, the New Zealand outfit managed to snatch a draw against giants Boca Juniors, courtesy of a goal from Christian Gray, a teacher who will never forget the day.
The Auckland City player spoke to Ole about the significance of his historic goal: "The last few hours have been surreal. Intense moments for the club and everyone involved. Obviously, we know Boca are a massive club and we have huge respect for them. We're still trying to process it all."
"It's all incredibly surreal, and more than a dream, to be honest. New Zealand is so far away, we're a small country, and I'm from a small town there. So as a kid, this seemed so distant. To experience it now is very special," confessed the 28-year-old centre-back.
The physical education teacher knows he faces a busy few days upon his return: "I've had so much support from the school, they backed me to come to the United States. I'm sure I'll get asked loads about the game. The kids and teachers love football too. I think there are a lot of happy people there. When I get back, I'll probably have to talk a little about my goal and my experience at the World Cup."
"I'm lucky that the school supported me in coming here. I think I've missed maybe four weeks in total, as we came two weeks before the first game, so it's been a long time away from home, but it was worth it. It was great to finish on a high," he asserted.
Regarding the goal, he said it "felt like a dream". "It was a bit surprising because I don't usually score goals. But it was a flood of happy emotions. I think the best word to describe it is unreal. Tuesday was the pinnacle for each of us in our careers. That's why we enjoyed the night together as a team and as a club."
