'I know that Real Madrid fans are waiting for me'

Speaking to Marca, he said: "Real Madrid are rightful champions because they are the best team and they have the best players. No one [else] has won three consecutive Champions Leagues. It's something."

However, the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo will mark a change in style for Real - according to Manolas - but he remains wary of their wealth of talent and experience. 

"I don't know if I am a hero for Real Madrid fans. We eliminated Barcelona thanks to my goal and I am going to give everything for my team. For me, it's a pleasure that they are welcoming to me, and I know they are waiting for me," he said.
