"I had it all at Barca; going to Madrid could have gone terribly, but it didn't"

Barca and Real Madrid will forever be rivals. So when a player goes between the two clubs, it is always controversial.
The most famous example was with Luis Figo. The Portuguese-man decided to leave the Camp Nou when Real Madrid came knocking, and for some people it was the biggest betrayal in football.
Before 'El Clasico', Figo spoke to 'The Guardian', and explained why he decided to move to Madrid. "I had everything at Barca, so going to Real was tough. At that moment I thought, 'I'm not going to a second-tier team'. If it had not have been Real Madrid, maybe I would not have gone. I could have screwed everything up, but it went well... thank God", he remarked.
"It was a challenge, a decision which was based on feeling valued, and convincing myself that it was going to be a really important move. It was my decision, I am responsible for what I do. A year after working with my agent, because of a few disagreements, I said: 'Right, from now on you do you and I'll take care of myself'", he said.
Figo admitted that he suffered a lot, especially when he first started at Real. "I felt like I was doing interviews every day and that has an impact. It was because of the rivalry, the pressure, the transfer fee... My only worry was if I got injured", he mentioned.
Despite being very popular, he knows that it is impossible to be in everyone's good books. "Not everyone likes me, how could everyone like me? But that is the case with football", he ended by saying.
