"I do not respond to lies, falsehoods or rumours"

Luis Enrique appeared before the media on Thursday, a day before PSG's league match against Auxerre, and, true to himself, was defiant with the press that in recent days has placed him in the eye of the storm of the team's problems, which has two consecutive defeats in Europe.

Add to that a draw in Ligue 1, where they are absolute dominators, and the fan of information about tensions within the locker room has been set in motion.

“This is a magnificent dressing room, I would say exceptional, with a top human level and an excellent professional level. I will not respond to lies, falsehoods or rumors,” he said at a press conference.

The coach is taking a gamble. First, in Auxerre, where the team must regain the reliability it has maintained in France since the beginning of the year, but which the draw against Nantes in the last matchday has called into question.

But the real test will take place next Tuesday in Salzburg, where a good part of the team's chances of survival in the Champions League will depend on.

With just one win, one draw and three defeats, Luis Enrique's team faces the last three rounds of this new format of the European competition in 25th place, outside of the play-off places.

In the club's accounts, two wins in the three remaining matches should ensure that their continental journey is not cut short at the first hurdle, something unheard of since Qatar's arrival at the Parc des Princes in 2012.

Salzburg appears to be PSG's most likely match, as they host fellow strugglers Manchester City on January 22nd to close out the group stage in Stuttgart.
