Hwang Hee-chan to make Wolves return after 6 weeks on the sidelines

As Wolverhampton Wanderers prepare to visit Fulham on Saturday, Gary O'Neil shared positive news during his pre-match press conference on Friday, which will serve to lift fans' mood amid a disappointing start to the campaign. Wolves have spent majority of the 2024/25 Premier League season sitting in bottom place, however, their latest 2-0 victory over Southampton pushed them up to 19th.

Hwang Hee-chan's return to the squad is the first of two positive news. The South Korean will travel with the team for their trip at Craven Cottage on Saturday after spending six weeks out on the sidelines due to an ankle injury. The suffered the setback while on international duty, preventing him from playing for Wolves since the 5-3 defeat at Brentford on October 5. That said, whether the 28-year-old will be ready for minutes from kick off remains to be seen.

O’Neil is also hoping that centre-back Santiago Bueno will be fit to start against Fulham. The defender was forced to withdraw from Uruguay's squad due to an injury blow over the international break, but will still travel with Wolves for their upcoming Premier League clash.  “Santi’s done some work on the grass,” said O’Neil. “He’ll travel with us and we’re hopeful that he can make it".

Kalajdzic, Boubacar Traore, Mosquera, Meupiyou and Gonzalez are others among Wolves' injury list, but with O’Neil did not specify the conditions of their injuries, as he limited himself to brief and vague response. "We have a few players to check on, but I’m hopeful that we’ll be OK," he said on Friday. A win against Fulham, could see Wolves overtaking 17th-placed Ipswich Town, who are two points ahead and host a tough game against Man United on Sunday. That said, the task is far from an easy one as Marco Silva’s men are enjoying a strong start to the campaign, sitting in 7th place - just one point shy of the European spots.
