Hummels possible move to Mallorca labelled as fake news

Among all the rumours of this summer transfer window, one of the most talked-about and longest-talked-about is Mats Hummels. After a sublime Champions League campaign with Borussia Dortmund, the 35-year-old centre-back decided to leave the German club at the age of 35. However, the defender has no intention of hanging up his boots, as his goal is to embark on a new journey in the 2024-25 season.

His status as a free agent soon sparked numerous rumours, but the most shocking and talked about is undoubtedly that of a possible move to Mallorca. The rumour gained momentum at the beginning of the summer transfer window, but faded until in the last few days another rumour put Hummels on Mallorca's radar.

Many German media reports suggested that Mallorca were the favourites to sign the former German international, but nothing could be further from the truth. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano and ‘Cadena COPE’, all reports linking Hummels to the Balearic side are false.

According to this, the family of the footballer and the player himself are very upset with the rumours and the source that has generated them. The same would be a fake agent who, without having any link with Hummels, has been presenting and announcing alleged offers on behalf of the defender, spreading the false negotiation with Mallorca through social networks.

The Balearic club said on Thursday 22th August that there is absolutely no approach to Hummels from the club. Furthermore, Fabrizio Romano's information indicates that the only Spanish club that seems close to signing him would be Real Sociedad, who want to strengthen their backline with the German.

Therefore, as of today, it is quite likely that the former Bayern Munich player will land in La Liga, although his flight would be to San Sebastian and not Mallorca.
