Honours even at Villa Park, despite both sides scoring five

Neither team deserved to lose, but likewise neither deserved to take the spoils. Perhaps as such, a draw was a fair result.
Yet in a scarcely believable series of events at Villa park, both teams scored 5 goals apiece, and there was even a red card thrown in for good measure.
As scintillating as the striking powers of both teams were, their defences left the field of play in ruins.
It does bode well for the Championship promotion race though, as the entertainment looks set to go right to the wire once more, in the second flight of English football.
Upon the full time whistle, both sets of supporters gave their sides a well deserved standing ovation; as they had just witnessed a fixture that had produced a record equalling scoreline in the entire history of the division.

Villa looked certain to win the match; having come from behind three times to lead late on. But there was to be another twist in the tale from Forrest; who after going down to ten men, nicked a point via a late Lewis Grabban strike.
The hosts thought that they had twice nicked the spoils in stoppage time, only to see both goals ruled out.
Tammy Abraham was the bright spark once more for his adoptive club, as the Villa forward scored four goals on the night, all of exceptional quality.
Forrest forward Joe Lolley was unfortunate not to take the match ball for himself, as he scored a hat trick for the visitors, only to be outdone by his Villa counterpart for the man of the match honour.
Both managers opted to look at the positives, after both sides had dropped points from the draw.

Dean Smith praised the manner in which his Villa players "...were relentless going forwards", while Aitor Karanka hailed his sides perseverance to take a result, saying Forest "...showed big personality, big commitment."
The result leaves Villa in 8th place in the table, three points off the top six. While Forest maintain their play off place in 6th on 31 points.
