Hincapie renews with Bayer Leverkusen until 2027

Bayer Leverkusen announced on Sunday the renewal of Piero Hincapie until 30 June 2027. The Ecuadorian defender will continue under Xabi Alonso for the next four seasons.

The player assured the club that "it is a great motivation" to continue wearing Leverkusen's jersey. He also showed satisfaction, as he was able to "consolidate" his position in the national team.

The extension was more about a salary reward, as his contract was due to expire in the summer of 2026. So far this season, Piero Hincapie has played 23 games - 18 in the Bundesliga, the remaining five in the Champions League.

The South American player is set to play a key role in Bayer Leverkusen's fight to reach the Champions League places in the Bundesliga. In addition, the German side will face Monaco in the play-off for the last 16 of the Europa League.
