Henderson: 'I struggled against Spain'

Englad's go-to system sees Henderson sit in front of the back five as the side's only genuine midfielder, with Dele Alli and Jesse Lingard playing ahead of him and charged with providing attacking thrust.
However, it gives Henderson more responsibility than normal defensively, occasionally leaving England short-handed in the middle of the park.
The Liverpool man didn't enjoy the best of games at Wembley, receiving a booking before being replaced by Eric Dier in the second half and Henderson has now admitted that he was off the pace.
"It was tough," he lamented. "We tried to press higher up the pitch and it became a little disjointed at times. We managed to score a good goal but then conceded straight after, which we were disappointed with.
"It is difficult in the midfield because there are lots of bodies. When you're in a three you are covering a lot of ground. But in the second half we coped a little better. As the game went on we created more chances."
With England boasting an incredibly young squad, Henderson feels the introduction of the UEFA Nations League and the upcoming Champions League campaign will both massively aid the country's young stars as they take on some of the best players in the world.
"Playing against fantastic teams and good players, you learn a lot. They are big tests for us and ones we want to take on to get to the next level," he insisted.
